Ajla was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and moved to Nelson with her mom and sister in 1995. Ajla attended Trafalgar Middle School and later went on to graduate from LV Rogers in 2001.

From an early age, Ajla had interest in law and was fascinated by courtroom drama and wanted to pursue a law degree. In 2005 Ajla graduated and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology from Simon Fraser University.

Before continuing on with a law degree, Ajla decided to try her hand at working in the “trenches” of a law office to see if that is truly the career path for her.
After a year of real work experience and the daily grind in a busy law office in Nelson, Ajla found herself enjoying the behind the scenes operations and legal support work.

Ajla has worked as a legal assistant since September 2005 and she joined the team at Tyleen Underwood Law Office in September 2009. She worked her way up as a Paralegal and became a Designated Paralegal to Tyleen Underwood in June 2016.

Ajla is highly experienced in all aspects of the litigation process including drafting pleadings, preparing chambers applications, gathering and summarizing evidence, interviewing witnesses, assisting with Trial Preparation and providing Trial Support.

Ajla is in constant pursuit of higher learning and diligently keeps up with current laws, procedures, and litigation techniques. She attends various courses and seminars on variety of topics each year and networks with other professionals in her field to better serve our clients.

On a personal note, Ajla has been married for 10 years and has one son. Her other child, Sophie, is the furry kind, is also a frequent presence at Tyleen Underwood Law Office.

Ajla enjoys travelling, especially to her home country of Bosnia and Croatia. Ajla enjoys cooking and baking and drinking wine. But her favorite past time of all is spending time with her family.
